Do you trust the BBC?
The Beeb claims that:

"We are independent of outside interests and arrangements that could undermine our editorial integrity. Our audiences should be confident that our decisions are not influenced by outside interests, political or commercial pressures, or any personal interests."

Are they right to make that claim?

Re: Do you trust the BBC?
Of course not.

We are still lucky to have them as shit as they can be at times.

Better situation here than Italy where a media mogul got to run the country. Better than Russia, definitely better than North Korea's shouty female newsreader.

Count your blessings, the BBC is the definitely the lesser of many media evils out there.

Laughable claim utter rubbish

Re: Do you trust the BBC?
No yet they are almost the sole media source for 90% of the country.

Lmh I don’t see the logic in your post - just because it’s a bet up than China Russia or North Korea doesn’t make it less fucked up

Re: Do you trust the BBC?
I like the bbc ( the idea of it anyway) but I don’t believe that statement.
They have a slant and they do exist in their own little bubble talking to themselves and people like them.
They need to be better monitored and held to a higher standard. This BBC Trust seems like a cosy bunch of mates who don’t question them enough.
I think they need a rethink to be smaller and more focused. And to get rid of this idea of trying to provide something for everyone which often means swimming in the pool of banal shit like COMPETITIVE DANCING and MORONIC DRAMA set in some East End fantasy land.
Concentrate on better news (Channel 4 shits on News at 10), drama & natural history type stuff which they do brilliantly

Could start by stopping paying Gary Lineker £2m to gurn through the football highlights

Re: Do you trust the BBC?
Not especially less trustworthy than most other media outlets, if you unquestionably trust any of them you're an idiot.

Are they perfect, no, but as far as any media organisation in this country goes, they are far and away the most credible, so overall it's a yes for me.

You want to have a look at there HYS's they only tend to open one on a negative Brexit story, other stories that deserve a HYS don't seem to get opened up for public opinion.

From the moment Dimbleby said 'and now, Remain cannot win'

they have been palpably biased.

They are hamstrung by all kinds of meddling but still better than all commercial enterprises.

They like any media organisation takes a side and their claim of impartiality in bunkum.

I'll never forgive them for the Savile scandal.

Re: Do you trust the BBC?
I don't trust them.

Nobody can claim they are free from bias. We all have it. If the BBC want to be balanced, then the only real way for then to work towards that would be to employ people from across the political spectrum that reflect the views of the people in the country. They appear to be way overloaded with influential employees from the left, so haven't a hope in he'll of their output being balanced.

From the stories they choose to cover to the way those stories are covered, the BBC is pushing a leftist narrative paid for by a majority who don't share that view.

News is a hard one to deliver now days. Some people think the BBC is Tory some think its Red. They cant win.
Their entertainment is generally good but obviously there's a lot of competition.
Without the BBC its unlikely there would have been the worldwide success if our music industry.
There are so many classic BBC shows its hard to know where to start.
